People’s Choice Award Winner

Northglenn, CO — The Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) announced today that artist Kathy Anderson is the recipient of the 2007 People’s Choice Award for her bronze sculpture, “Imagine That.” The award is part of Northglenn’s Art on Parade program. The program features on-loan, outdoor sculpture exhibited at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park for one year. The public votes for their favorite, and NAHF works toward purchasing the piece for permanent display in the City of Northglenn. NAHF has already secured funding for the piece from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). For the first time in it’s seven-year history, the Foundation has also decided to purchase the close second-place choice, “Open Space” by artist George Manus.
“Imagine That” is bronze, 28” high, and will be purchased for $9,500. According to artist Anderson, the piece celebrates the lives of girls learning to become strong women. The sculpture depicts a young girl reading a book on the history of space travel to the moon and imagining what it would be like to become an astronaut.
“Open Space” is steel and stone, 74” high, and will be purchased for $9,500. “Being a Native American, this is my contemporary vision of the mystical buffalo the Great Father gave the people,” said artist Manus.
Both pieces will remain on display in E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park through May 2008, at which time six new sculptures on loan will be installed and the permanent location for “Imagine That” and “Open Space” will be announced.
