Northglenn, CO — The Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) will host a dedication ceremony for the 2008/2009 People’s Choice Award-winning sculpture, “Ascension” this Thursday, May 28 at the Charles C. Winburn Park at 112th and Huron at 6:00 p.m. Artist Ryan T. Schmidt will be on hand along with Foundation members and City officials. The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

The sculpture was part of Northglenn’s Art on Parade program before it won “The Peoples Choice” award. The program features on-loan, outdoor sculpture exhibited at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park for one year. The public votes for their favorite, and NAHF works toward purchasing the piece for permanent display in the City of Northglenn.

“Ascension” is stainless steel, 96” high, and was purchased for $25,000. According to artist Schmidt, the piece directly refers to the supernatural passage into heaven by Christ. The three vessels represent the mind, body, and spirit of those reaching towards the heavens in worship.
